What’s more Cape Cod than the sound of a wooden bat cracking as it rockets a baseball into play at a Cape Cod Baseball League game, or the taste of some homemade ice cream on a waffle cone? Nothing! It’s hard to go very far without finding an ice cream shop on the Cape, and many are located near the field where your favorite cape league team plays ball. Friendly’s is a proud sponsor of the Cape League, and the many throughout the Cape are a great place to get some refreshing ice cream. Here is a list of some of the other best places to stop by after attending a game if you need to fulfill a sweet tooth.
Right down the road from Eldridge Field, where the league leading Orleans Firebirds call home, is the Ice Cream Cafe on 5 South Orleans Road. For over 20 years the cafe has been serving the best homemade ice cream in Orleans and even has many non-dairy and vegan options for all. Make sure to visit the cafe after catching a game!
If you’re in Chatham enjoying an Anglers game stop by Buffy’s Ice Cream Shop located on 456 Main Street, Buffy’s is part of the Chatham experience and serves some of the best ice cream and frozen yogurt the town has to offer.
Only a few minutes away from Stony Brook Field located on 2689 Main Street in Brewster, is JT’s Seafood which also serves some terrific ice cream. The shop supports its local Brewster Whitecaps and is a great spot to hit after attending a game!
Schoolhouse Ice Cream is located on 749 MA-28 in Harwich Port and is worth the drive from Whitehouse Field, home of the Harwich Mariners, as the ice cream will not disappoint.
A few miles down the road from Red Wilson Field, home of the Y-D Red Sox, is the Cape Cod Creamery, located on 5 Theater Colony Road in South Yarmouth. The creamery is a Cape Cod staple and has some of the best ice cream you’ll find anywhere.
Katie’s Ice Cream is located on 570 Main Street in Hyannis, not far from McKeon Park where the Harbor Hawks play ball. Katie’s is a Hyannis tradition serving their famous “Cape Cod Sand” flavor. Go in and try it out!
The Bourne Braves play ball at Doran Park, and just west of the ballpark is the Canal Creamery located on 89 Main Street. The creamery is sure to satisfy your ice cream needs after a Braves game!
On 209 Main Street in Falmouth you’ll find Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium, near Fuller Field, the home of the Falmouth Commodores. Don’t miss out on this place!
Kool Kone located on 374 Marion Road near the Wareham Gatemen’s Spillane Field is a great spot to stop and enjoy some ice cream after catching a game.
Last, but of course not least is the Polar Cave Ice Cream Parlour, located on 22 Falmouth Road but in the town of Mashpee. It’s right down the road from Lowell Park, where the Cotuit Kettleers play ball, and is the best place for ice cream in that area.
Of course there are so many other places on Cape that are great choices to find savory ice cream, but those are the best spots to hit if you’re attending a game of one of the Cape league teams during the summer. Enjoy a night of baseball and ice cream, it’s what Cape Cod does best!
